The Harves Market Hall
The Harves Market Hall is one of the oldest surviving structures in Ostith Cross. It was designed by the engineer Marguerite Rovolltam and completed in 1920. The structure stands 32 metres tall.
Marguerite Rovolltam drew up the plans after a public subscription raised funds for the project. Construction took three seasons, using stone quarried a few miles inland. When it opened in 1920, local newspapers described it as the most ambitious public work the town had attempted.
The Harves Market Hall was restored in the late twentieth century and remains a familiar landmark for residents and visitors.
